Carlops - stone steps, paths and retaining wall
Two sets of stone steps with paths and edging built using fairly rough sandstone. Also a long retaining wall with planting space and a post box!

Norton House Hotel - retaining wall
Four parallel retaining walls were built using reclaimed sandstone from an old barn at the Norton House Hotel. Each retaining wall was 23 metres long and 1 metre high. In all 120 tonnes of stone was used.

Willowbrae - small garden retaining walls
A small job to transform what was a fairly unfinished front garden. The completed retaining wall included a raised bed and a stone seat. We also replaced a decaying brick retaining wall that ran beside the driveway.

Haddington - retaining wall
A small garden job - 5 man days in total - changed a plain sloping garden into a fantastic landscaped area with a stone retaining wall and steps as the main feature of the design.

I am very pleased to announce that I was one of three people short-listed in the stone category for the inaugural Balvenie/Sunday Telegraph craftsman of the year 2011.
This new award aims to celebrate heritage and hand-built crafts over seven materials categories including stone, wood and glass. The judging panel was TV presenter and author, Kevin McCloud, Chairman of the Heritage Crafts Association, Robin Wood, expert crafts photographer, Nick Hand, Editor of The Sunday Telegraph Life, Anne Cuthbertson and the whisky industry's longest standing Malt Master, David Stewart
