Alva Glen phase II

In September we completed phase II of dry stone walling work for the Ochils Landscape Partnership in Alva Glen.  After building the dry stone bench last year, this time I built three sections of retaining wall.  Several areas of earth banks were suffering badly from erosion, and Stone Inspired was commissioned to build retaining walls to protect the banks.

The stone used was supplied by Tradstocks, and is a type of  Dolerite whinstone or.  20 tonnes of top soil was also bought to backfill the terraces.

Thanks also to John Shaw-Rimmington for the help building the wall;  and Tim Hastings for the labouring, especially during the tidy up.
