Edinburgh – diagonally-laid stone

The client was looking for a dry stone wall replacement to the hedge in their front garden.  As well as the boundary wall, they were keen on having some planting space too.  Symmetry was an important consideration in the design, so we came up with a plan for a low wall with two quarter circle planters at opposite corners.

We also suggested building the stone work in diagonals for much of the front and side walls, with a small panel of vertically laid stone.  Given the number of comments from passers-by, the stone work was received with great interest.
