About Us

The dry stone walls that you see on this site were built by Jason Hoffman, Andy Black and Richard Love. Although we live in the Lothians, we regularly travel to projects further afield. Recent work has seen us in East Lothian, Fife, Aberdeen, Fraserburgh, the Scottish Borders, West Lothian and Glasgow.

If you would like us to quote on a walling idea that you have, either use the contact details in the footer of this page or complete the short contact form here.

Jason Hoffman

Jason has been a professional member of the Dry Stone Walling Association for seven years (but walling on and off for a lot longer than that!) and he is qualified to Intermediate level. He has been working as a full-time dry stone waller for five years. Jason is a member of the SE Scotland branch and is a qualified walling instructor.

Balvenie Masters of Craft Awards
Jason was one of three people short-listed in the stone category for the inaugural Balvenie/Sunday Telegraph craftsman of the year 2011.

Andy Black

Andy is a time-served stone mason and waller, originally from Skipton but now resident in Edinburgh. As well building stone work, Andy is a talented letter-cutter and stone carver. He has his own business Workinstone producing stone signs, ornaments and garden furniture.

Richard Love

Richard is professional member of the Dry Stone Walling Association (DSWA), qualified to Advanced level. Richard was the national chairman of the DSWA for many years, and is the current chair of the local SE Scotland branch. He is one of the driving forces behind the promotion of the craft in the UK, and has been involved in the administration of the dry stone walling movement for as long as he can remember! He is a qualified walling instructor.

Ross Black

Ross is our invaluable labourer whose strength is called on occasionally for stone shifting and digging. Ross runs a garden maintenance business Rosco Gardening Services.

Stone Inspired Ltd is the trading name for my dry stone walling business. The business is registered in Scotland with Companies House as SC298889.
